Pacific Artist Series

Twenty-First Season 2023-2024

The Pacific Artists Series is the flagship cycle of concerts presented by the Music Department of 成人直播. The series derives it title from the university name and one of the aspects of its mission鈥攆acilitating peace around the community and the world.

A variety of musical styles and genres are brought to the 成人直播 campus by the Pacific Artist Series. Notable past performers have included Janai Brugger (soprano), Rong-Huey Liu (oboe), Francesca Dego (violin), Eugene Friesen (cello), Ruta Bloomfield (harpsichord), Andrew Funk (bass), Del Sol Quartet and many more. Additionally, 成人直播's talented music faculty, as well as many former students, have also presented concerts in the series' history.

Tessellations - Cerro Negro

Spanish guitars blended with world percussion forms the eclectic sound of Cerro Negro. Passionate vocals soar over the bombastic guitar work of Frank Giordano. The nylon string guitar is reinvented in the hands of featured lead player Dusty Brough. Led by Flamenco and world percussionist John Martin III, Cerro Negro brings together music from around the Mediterranean.

A Festival of Lessons & Carols - 成人直播 choral and instrumental ensembles

Celebrate the season through narrative and song with 成人直播鈥檚 choirs and ensembles, San Joaquin Chorale, and 成人直播 faculty, directed by Jeff Wilson, DMA. Delight in traditional carols and contemporary arrangements - an 成人直播 tradition since 2001 - inspired by the traditional Christmas Eve service held in the King鈥檚 College Chapel at Cambridge University.

Treasures of the Baroque - Laudami Ensemble

Known for their lively performances, the Laudami Ensemble brings history to life through historically-informed performance on period instruments. Drawing connections between diverse artistic inspirations, violinist Laura Jeannin and harpsichordist Michael Peterson present a collection of works from the Baroque era centered around the music of Johann Sebastian Bach.

In Her Hands - Agave Baroque

The exciting follow-up program to their Grammy-nominated album American Originals, Agave Baroque and soprano Michele Kennedy explore images of motherhood and the feminine divine through the ages and across continents as told through the voices of female composers. Delve into the intersections of spirituality and incarnation, grief and hope, and ultimately, transformation. From 17th-century Italian convents to the Underground Railroad, this program presents a powerful and vivid journey into the heights and depths of the human experience.
